WAG YOUR TALE

You can help and become a published author at the same time!

Gathering the histories for all of the roughly 210 Spyders built is an ongoing process, and many of you have parts of those histories, photographs or anecdotes, stories and tales of your experience with Spyders back in the day, or currently. If you have a Spyder, I would love to know the history of it to add to the book, if you had one at some time, same thing. If you raced one or crewed on a team, what do you remember? What adventures did you have?

The human history of life with these cars is as interesting as the hard history of which car was where when. If you can contribute, please do, note that if you do send something in, I will assume that you are willing to have it included in the book, and if you have pictures you can scan and email in high resolution, that would be great too. Help the cause, tell us your stories!

Thanks, Bob LeFlufy

Here are a couple of Tale Wags already received and going into the text;

"I was a 20 year old impoverished Math student in University, driving  a beaten up A Series coupe and dreaming of racing. A local racer was running an RSK, and later an RS60 and a 904 in club races here in Vancouver and in the Pacific Northwest. Nights and weekends found me twisting wrenches on his customer's street Porsches, to earn seat time in the race cars. Got more than a few great races in, won a 4 hour Enduro in the 904, and lots of good time in the Spyders" Mike Stacey Vancouver, BC

"I bought 550-10 with orig. engine from Gilles St.Pierre in Rimouski , QC . Sept 1985.? This was a 1954 LeMans factory prototype, ex- R. v.Frankenburg / H. Glockler. DNF.? Very rough project.? Sold to Jeff Lewis June 1986 to raise $$ for 718-057 ex-L.Heimrath. Deal fell thru, and I waited until Jan. 6, 2000 to buy 718-058 ex-P.Ryan (The other Cdn. Car) which I have restored and own today. It's the most original RS60 in the world.? Not raced since 1963 with complete history.? I first saw a sports car race at Harewood May 1960(the Carling 300). No other car mattered after that.? 718's finished 1-2-3-4 and blew everything else into the weeds.? Giant Killers!? Took 40 years to get one." Murray Wivell, Toronto
